Homecomeing for a band geek.?

okie dokie. I'm a freshman so this is my first homecoming. I'm also in marching band and we have a contest at the horeshoe (OSU stadium) the same day as homecoming. so I've basically got less than 2 hours to do my hair. my hair is brown. curly and a little past my shoulders. I have a roundish face and my bangs can be clipped up of swept to the side. they're about down to my mid cheek and slant up to my eye near the middle of my head. and a small bit on the other side. I need something fast easy that will stay up and can be done with wet or blow dryed hair. also people say it should match my dress. its purple empress cut with a pretty low back. (halter)

also I have silver and diamond jewlery....so I also want make up ideas. the dress is light and dark purple. and its a see throughish material over a shiney material. and the shiney material makes up the part that ties the halter and the bow on the bakck.

Try going to a gym, and get some acne cream or cover acne with concealer. Try not to wear too much eyeliner and chains on your pants. No more studded belts, basketball jerseys, or baggy pants. Get a straightener for your hair.

i'm sure they have your 'rocker' clothes in girls sizes too, and you can get de-frizzing hair spray or shampoo at any convienent store. and just simply going for walks daily can help you out with your weight.

I like almost all music- blues like Kenny Wayne Sheppard... weird stuff like Steve Vai... blahblah. I like most rock music, but I can't say all. Bruce Springsteen will always be my favorite.

Also, not all rap music is bad. Mainstream rap sucks, sure, but if you listen to some underground and 70s and 80s rap (Public Enemy is very good), there's a lot of good stuff out there! There's even some very good current rappers out there right now. Like M.I.A. for example. Her songs are about terrorism, war, poverty, and other political issues, and her music is very worth listening to, in my opinion.

many people just say that because they like to label things. everything that you just described is exactly what i do ( besides cutting myself) i love bands like my chemical romance, AFI, and hawthorne hights but it doesnt mean that im emo. i have dark black hair and going to get death red highlights. i wear nothing but black, and i am very sarcastic when i talk. people give me a bunch of names emo,goth. so dont feel bad that it happens. if you dont want to be called emo try wearing less black and when you're mad dont cut yourself, try to put all your emotions into music and playing your guitar or what ever your greatest passion is. music wise, my chemical romance is a band that will really save your life.

also. all of those bands are HORRIBLE. they have no talent. most of the guitarists don't even KNOW how to play guitar first of all. aside from rooting, thats all the bassists can do. they only reason the get publicity is because no one knows what good music is anymore.

Our school is having Homecoming/Sprit week , i was does any one have any ideas on what i should wear.

Wed. ~Switch day which is when girls dress as boys and vis versa . I planned to wear a black long T, basketball shorts , and black air~force ones . Any other suggestions on hair , jewlery, etc.

Thurs. ~ Rockstar/Gothic day . I have nothing to wear on this day..............

Like on her youtube it had she was an 'emo' that was happy. now its got shes a miserble emo cus i put on mine i was emo.

My friend has been copying me. I mean ALOT. In every thing i do she ether has to copy or get one up on me. Like i started liking the colour black. Suddenly it was her favourite colour. I started to really like mcr and different rock bands. She just happened to start to like them to. I started thinking about dying my hair. She wanted to as well. The same colour. I started thinking about closing down my piczo site. The next day, hers was completly shut. I wanted to make an anime on youtube. She suddenly wanted to. I thought about having a style like emo. How are you supposed to wear a headwrap?

i purchased one from target because it was on clearance for $2 and was a really cute cherry print. i've tried it on and it looks stupid. it isnt a hard headband it's like a piece of about 2 inch wide fabric that gets skinnier near the bottom (the part your hair covers up) and has a little band of elastic around the bottom. are you supposed to wear the fabric wide or scrunch it up? i dont get it.

Iv'e almost become the expert on these through trial and error so here's what I've learned.

Scrunch it or roll it and than put your hair in a pony tail before you try to put it on, I also like to part my hair to the side first, I think it will look good on you too, judging by your pic. Once you have tied it you can put your hair back down if you want, it's just easier to tie it when it's up, also put bobby pins on the sides and bottom to keep it in place or it will slide off of your head. Well, I just use eyeliner and mascara..when i go to school. but i want to change it up. my skintone is like the pic below (brunette hair) and i want to use a little color.

use bare minerals to even out your skin tone. define the eyes with maybelline 'great lash' and soften the mouth with light pink gloss. you will make your eyes pop but keep the rest of the face nuetral. for a night look maybe add some purple or blue eye shadow to make your eyes pop even more. remmeber to keep your face balanced though, dont try to emphasize every part of your face! hope this helps!!!

I have used color girl and like you my skin is sensitive to some brands. However, I have never had a problem with cover girl. You can use a pink color blush or a bronzer. They also have a plastic sheet that you can see what color would be closest to your skin color for foundation. hope this helps. Jodi

I already know what dress I am wearing. It is a very pretty black v-neck dress. It goes to my shoulder blades and has straps instead of sleeves. It is tight till the waist then floss and is longer then I am tall. On the top of the dress is a gold vine design. The dress I am wearing in the picture is the same one.

I think you should wear the majority of your hair up that way you won't take anything away from the dress...Maybe you should do some tight curls like on orange perm rods...check Black Hair magazine...they have some nice styles ....and you want a diamond necklace, earrings, and a bracelet. I also think you should get your nails and feet done...make sure they place is clean because you don't want that flesh eating bug to get you.....hey it was on Tyra one day...surf the net.....

Few years ago ( arround mid 2003 ),there was a song from a trio,that i really really like.

It was played so often on Music TV.I wrote down the band name and the song title,planning to get their CD.

I forgot the name of this song, but it had a girl in a gray dress w/ wet-like black hair as the lead singer in the band (the rest were guys) and it was like a rock-ish/emo song. it was one of the above industrial bands and it only lasted about a minite or so, but i want to hear it again.

Well to start off..

What I did - When I played -

The group went out and purchased some music books of such groups as " Eric Burton and the Animals, Santana, Chicago Transit, Blood Sweat %26amp; Tears, Bob Dylan, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Allman Brothers Band %26amp; etc.". I also would watch other artist / groups when they played - especially the rhythm guitar and followed his / hers cording - too maybe learning that particular song. It would also help you to "transpose" music into other keys in case some are not "vocally" easy to accomplish. Hope this will get you %26amp; yours started into making wonderful music. The Old Dawg..

So what's happening is I'm starting a rock band with my friends [I'm the bass guitar] and basically we need to pick the spokesperson, or frontman if you will, for the band.

So basically they are both EQUALLY TALENTED. They play the lead guitar the same and both their voices are fine, so all thats left is their personality and looks.

Unfortunately in this business looks matter and given the description of the two Girls, I think that, as a band, you all would have a better chance at making something with Girl A vs Girl B. Alright. I recently entered tenth grade. I have dressed the same way and dyed my hair the same way every since sixth grade. I wear black trip pants with crossed chains, weird black shirts, lots of necklaces. My hair is black with blonde bangs. I sorta look the "goth" sterio type. I listen to bands such as ACDC, The Misfits, Rancid, Led Zeppelin, and Rolling stones. Along with Billy Idol and such. So basically I look out of wack and people would never guess that. I'm sick of looking that way and being made fun of and such, even though Im nto changing for them im chaing because I want to. Anyone have any suggestions on what I should wear? Please give good details not just "band shirts and blue jeans". I mean real details with accesories, ect. Thanks!

I think you should start wearing cuts of clothing that flatter your body. You can still customize them, and cut up old band shirts to make patches on new shirts that look good.

You don't have to give up your old style, but you can look more... approachable. I agree that 4 years is a long time to wear the same clothes. I did a style overhaul at the same time, but I still liked the same stuff. Try to retire the band T-shirts, one at a time, and put them in a bin. You can always cut them up later (at the time I was too emotionally attached to them to do that) and customize them to look attractive on your body.

uhm, keep your style and be yourself, just make everything fitted and bring out the "girly girl".

try to transistion yourself more from the goth, to the goth and roll...like, halfway between goth and rock and roll. that way you have your style, but youve got a less dramatic version of it...you can still wear the same stuff, just tone it down a bit. if your pants are really crazy with loads of straps and junk, then dont wear a shirt with too much going on or it looks weird...or, if your shirt is really busy, opt for a more simple pair of pants, without all the straps and zippers and stuff. id loose the blonde bangs all together. keep whatever your natural color is and then get it in a cut that flatters your face. loose a few of the necklaces and you should be set. a store you might actually really like is H%26amp;M, its got loads of chic classy clothes, and some of them are VERY rock and roll, and really cool. dont try to do it all at once, just take it one day at a time and you should be just fine.

Sounds like a cool challenge you've set yourself- kudos for taking it on and not staying stuck. I went through a time like yours in high school too, and I found it was easiest to start slow and figure out what I liked, then weave that into my old style.

So you might start wearing plain but pretty black shirts with the trip pants, or your old shirts with cute jeans, your necklaces with a tank top and cargo capris... for dressy days you can try denim or camo skirts with fashionable cuts, silk t's in subtle prints, and stylish leather boots. I like shopping around at 2nd hand stores for pieces because there are a ton of different choices for cheap. If you cut your hair to your ears or shorter, any roots will be less dramatic than on long hair (been there, done that) and you can play around with cool styles. And in general , check out fashion magazines or websites (and friends whose style you like) to see the trends, then adopt the ones that look good on you and show who you are. No need to go overboard into the girly or 'normal' areas or ditch all your favourite things :)

If you're looking for some new music types, try bands like Nickelback, Third Day, or Green Day - lots of bass and strong beats but less dark.

lol. am I nuts? I love micro braids, I've done my head in 150 braids in the past it took me 10 hours and lasted only 2 days. I secured with rubber bands and the bands looked tacky. I can do this myself but how can I secure the ends to stay? without glue, burning or ruining my natural hair. I'm using my own hair, no extensions or tracks. I have almost waist length straight blonde hair, color treated (not for the last 7 weeks tho). tends to frizz sometimes. any suggestions? thank you.

Who would have thought it - i'm actually looking for a fact based answer.

Anyway, i saw a live performace of what i think is an Indie band performing, but I didn't see the end where it shows who the artists are and what the song is called. [My mum made me load the washing machine, so I missed it.]

But anyway, they are current I think, the lead singer was male and plays guitar and he has brown hair. There was a female keyboardist with black hair that also sang backing vocals. There was a male that was playing a drum at first [like a Band drum] then he switched to accordian halfway through the song. There was also a violinist with short black hair.

I think they're excellent and I would like to explore their music further, but I can't as I don't know their name..

I'm hoping that someone recognises this band because i don't remember the lyrics to their song.

Question for ladys only?

my question is this,

I hate it in any curcumstances to lower my self to the standard category but i guess it is the easiest way to describe my appearance.

I have grown up in the "punk rock/skateboarding scene" for most of my life

i play guitar and sing in a few different bands and have a bunch of tattoos and a different colored mowhawk (not shaved on the sides, i guess you can call it a fohawk then) every week it seems depending on my mood i am in

Definately keep trying; believe it or not, there are girls out there who don't drink and have dreams and ambitions of their own.

I think your appearance sounds alright and it's good that you are doing the music thing, if that's what you like.

Personally, I say that you should look for single girls who hang out in the places you like to go. You can't tell if they're 'good' unless you spend some time figuring it out, but if they accept how you look enough to give you a date (or even just a cup of coffee or whatever) then that's a good start. Be proactive!

It is worth giving it a go or if you know of somebody that is really clever with there hands and can create things it would be worth asking them to give it a go. I think you should get a beautiful slide or clip with crystals or diamante on them. They can be placed in the hairstyles to clip back the fringes or to pull the hair away from the face. They would suit any type of hair style too..
