My tragus piercing is way INFECTED!?

ive had it for over a year now and it hasnt gotten any better. there was always this little red bubble around it. but i always squeeze pus out of it (i dont squeeze it hard,, and i always wash my hands before and after). its really sore. I think it got infected because of my hair so ive been keeping a band aid over it none stop for the past 4 months. what should i do, should i keep it or take it out. Ive heard you shouldn't take a piercing out if its infected because the infection will stay in a bubble trapped inside. so what do i do. the sea salt soaks havent been doing any good either. and i think the bubble is getting bigger as well, like spreading bigger

A bump doesn't mean it's infected.

Bumps are common in cartilage piercings, it's either hypertrophic scarring or a keloid.

I'll leave links with info about/how to get rid of both.

Also, A trip to see your piercer wouldn't hurt to see what they have to say about it :)

DUH--have you gone to a doctor?? A weeks worth of an anti biotic will clear it up. The problem with squeezing is it puts the infection into the soft tissue and it will just spread and spread. There are creams and peroxide and cotton balls to clean it properly---you choose to use your filthy fingers---washed or not--fingers are friggin' dirty. the air is dirty--the piercing is probably cheap metal and you are reacting to it--go to the doctor and spend a few dollars to get it fixed--before your tragus falls off. It takes 2 or 3 months for that soft tissue to fully heal up properly--did anyone tell you that?? Did you think to ask?? You have to get all the questions answered before someone slams a hole in your body.

if it doesn't get any better, don't take it out because if it is infected the infection WILL get trapped inside and you might have to get it surgically removed. don't go to a doctor because they haven't be specially trained in piercings. your best option would be to go to the piercer who pierced it for you. they would know what to do because they have been specially trained and so they know what to do with problems like this. and they will tell you what to do. they get a lot of problems like that.

ok i have had this same problem..use dial antibacterial foam soap..it will go away in about 2 weeks, do your soaks and daily cleanings with this and good luck
